General Officer&#acute;s Sword “ Sir Thomas Arbuthnot. General Officer&#acute;s Sword 1803 style hilt which has had the royal cypher replaced with the family crest of the Arbuthnot&#acute;s family. Lion head pommel with bone grip and gold bullion sword knot. The curved fat back blade with broad fuller and hatchet point. The blade is engraved with crown over GR and stands of arms the back edge engraved J J Runkel Solingen. Complete with black leather scabbard with matching mounts the leather looks to have been replaced however the sword is in excellent condition so maybe original. It is possible the sword belonged to either Sir Thomas Arbuthnot or Sir Robert Arbuthnot the former seems to be more likely. Reference: Blade Length: 32.25 inch Overall Length: 36.0 Inch

With swamped sighted barrels, signed on a raised central ribs ‘BARBAR LONDON' decorated with sprays of foliage at the breech and stamped with London proofs and Foreigners marks, foliate engraved tangs cut with a deep sighting grooves, rounded locks, signed BARBAR fitted with sliding safety catches, moulded cocks, full-stocked in walnut with raised mouldings around the locks and foliate mouldings around the tangs, (old repair to one fore-end and at the tail of one of the locks) engraved silver mounts comprising pierced side-plates depicting stands of arms, escutcheons decorated with stands of arms, long-eared butt caps stamped with silver hall-marks, trigger guards with unusual stand of arms finials, silver ramrod pipes and horn tipped ramrods with worms. Parker of London. 18 &194;&190;&157; overall, 13&157; 10 bore round sighted Damascus barrels engraved ’London’ along the top flat, London proofs, plain tangs with back sight. Stepped flat locks with hound´s tooth engraved board line, engraved ´W. Parker´, swan necked cocks, spoon shaped pans. Figured full stocks with flattened rounded butts, brass trigger guards bow engraved with flower head, with acorn finials brass ramrod pipes. ´S´ shaped side plate scroll shaped escutcheon, original horn tipped ramrods both with a worm. In a contemporary, possibly their original relined, mahogany case with accessories comprising two way brass and copper powder flask, loading rod with jag, steel 12 bore bullet mould and oil bottle. With original W. Parker label. The exterior of the lid with brass flush fitting carrying handle. He held contracts to ordnance, East India Company and The Hudson’s Bay Company. Supplied arms to the London Police from 1803 and Metropolitan Police from 1829. Died aged 68 in 1841.
